Tired of Tradmark Talk…

If I see one more article on the whole “Linux Tradmark Controversy” I am going to go mad!!!

This whole “controversy” is such a non-issue that it annoys me that it has been blown so out of proporsion, especially by the online media.

First, look up what a TRADEMARK is…
Then, look up what a PATENT is…
More specifically, a SOFTWARE PATENT

Now, despite the fact that the above terms are VERY different almost every article I have read about this “controversy” has made mention of both, almost within the same context. It really amazes me that sooo many people are completely lazy (or just stupid) and without knowing what they are talking about will propagate this nonsense. So much so that now one would believe that, all of the sudden, you have to pay $5,000 just to run Linux…which is so entirely inacurate to be laughable (only it’s not funny because people are really stupid enough to believe such nonsense).

For people who really want to know the “TRUTH” of the matter I suggest reading the following:
(1) Linus Torvalds statement on the Linux Kernel Mailing List
(2) Linux Mark Institute Website
(3) This article on GROKLAW on why the Trademark is important
(4) The definitions on what a Trademark, Patent, and Software Patent are.
