R.I.P Peter Jennings 1938-2005

This morning I woke up with the shocking news that Peter Jennings had passed away, losing his battle with lung cancer. I grew up with a father and a grandfather who both religously watched the nightly news so Peter Jennings and Tom Brokaw have been major influences and icons in my life.

Even in this day of news and information overload with 24-hour news networks and information readily available on the internet I still make time to watch the evening news.

I was deeply saddened to learn of his cancer diagnosis and that he would no longer be the regular anchor on the ABC World News. Even so, I still imagined the he would fight back and be around in some capacity giving us the news.
