Wine: Look What I Can Do…
Ever since I started using Linux back in 1997-1998 I have always had an interest in “playing” with Wine. It fascinated me, being able to install Windows applications on Linux. Over the years I have been able to install a good many apps including MS Office, Quicken, and TopSyle Lite/Pro. I used to try to install anything I could get my hands on…frequent trips to Tucows and Downloads.com after new installs of Wine were the norm.
Although I always liked to “play” around with Wine I never really used Wine to be able to install a Windows application that I used a lot. Even MS Office, which now can be installed relatively easy and in good working order under Wine, was never really used on Linux. It was always more of a, “Look what I can do” sort of thing.
Recently I read somewhere that Google’s Picasa2 ran well on Linux with the help of Wine. So yesterday I decided to give it a try…wow! If there was ever an application I have installed with Wine that made me say “Look what I can do”…this is it:
