Two Must Have Apps for Windows…
For anybody that has to admin a mix of Linux/UNIX and Windows machines here are two applications I suggest you install. WinSCP and Cygwin (especially Cygwin/X).
WinSCP is an open source SFTP client for Windows. So far I have found WinSCP to be far more convenient than the SFTP client by SSH. I am not sure how I ever got along without it.
I really never bothered with Cygwin up until a few days ago even though I had heard good things about it. One of the main reasons I decided to install it was for the XFree86 implementation for Windows it has. In the past I always relied on crappy proprietary xservers for Windows (XWin, Exceed, etc…). Installing Cygwin was probably one of the best things I ever did.
